Welcome to the "Homework" page. If students ever forget to write in their planner or if parents would like to check in on what's due, here is the place to come! I will be updating the page daily with all the homework and due dates. Students are still expected to fill out their planner in class, but this page will hopefully be a useful resource if students are sick or need to double check anything!

**As an incentive to get all their homework done for tomorrow, we will be doing a movie for those students who get everything handed in and if it isn't done, they will be given some catch up time during the movie to finish up. It's important that the students have everything completed and handed in before they go for Christmas holidays! Completing homework on time has been a concern for some students so this will be a reward for staying on top of their responsibilities!

NOVEL STUDY & SCHOLASTIC NOTES

Novel Study - For our first novel study, we are switching to an easier novel, "Matilda", since students have had a challenging time with the assigned work. This novel study will be done with oral reading so the students will have less tasks to complete for homework. We will be more guided activities in the classroom setting. I will collect the "Bridge to Terebithia" novels and we will begin reading the new one tomorrow! :) As a reward for finishing our novel study of "Matilda", we will watch the movie in class! (Probably in the new year)

Scholastic - I am sending the December scholastic book order catalogues out early so that any orders placed will arrive before the Christmas holidays!

** A NOTE ABOUT NOVEL STUDY
Each Wednesday we will be doing our Novel Study. We are reading the book "Bridge to Terabithia" and will be doing some reading and corresponding activities as a class. Each week, the students will be assigned homework for the following week. They will always have the full week to complete the homework AND are allowed to work on it during silent reading. With that being said, I expect the novel study homework to ALWAYS be completed by Wednesday morning. If not, the students will need to stay in at recess and lunch until it is done. It is important that they come prepared with the assigned reading and work so that they can be an active participant in any discussions we may have about the novel. Each Wednesday I will post the assigned novel study homework on this page, that way if there are any questions you can check here for exactly what needs to be done.

Here's this week's homework:

- Read chapter 2 (we read chapter 1 as a class)
- Add two characters to the "Character Chart" - Jesse Oliver Aarons Jr. and Leslie Burke. Make sure to fill the space given with information about the character, draw a picture of them and add some color. Use the information given in the chapters to create a realistic drawing of the characters.
- Do the page "Understanding the Story" (questions 1-4 AND "A Little Extra"
